THE Agency: First Paige
Characters
-
Ray
Ray is THE dedicated mad scientist. He was brought in when his mentor turned super-villain decided to steal one of his first rays. Stanley himself was forced to intervene. Offering him the choice between becoming a super-villain himself, or joining the good guys that just act badly.
FAVORITE WORD: farfegnugen (once saved his life)
FAVORITE PROJECT: the frozen cubes of time in his freezer that Dot won’t let him thaw.
FAVORITE MOVIE GENRE: spaghetti western
BIGGEST FLAW: would do anything to keep building. Nothing stops in in a project: man, nature or laws of physics. And if THE Agency were ever to stop supplying him with a study line of clients in need of mind-mending weapons, everyone knows he’d be the first to jump ship. His loyalty is to the creative process. -
Max
Max is the engineer of THE group. She handles anything meant to move. Cars are just the beginning. Just last week the mobile command center of DOOM for the Purple Poisoner launched. That thing could drive, swim and fly. And it was still under budget.
FAVORITE WORD: Nevermind - especially when it comes from a client trying to add more to the order
FAVORITE PROJECT: [classified - see Rabbit World Earth 617]
FAVORITE MOVIE GENRE: romantic comedy
BIGGEST FLAW: temper. No one knows her real age, but we’re all pretty sure her patience ran out 72,000 years ago. If the sleeve is up above the elbow Do Not Approach. -
Jay
Jay is the public relations guru of THE Agency. He’s diffused more bombs than all the east coast SWAT teams together - and that only with a stack of post-it notes and a rotary phone. He keeps the clients happy with a silver tongue and nerves of adamantium.
FAVORITE WORD: retraction - it’s not always about what people say. It’s about what they’re willing not to take back.
FAVORITE PROJECT: has something to do with the internet troll invasion of ‘08. Didn’t sleep for four days straight, doesn’t remember most of day four, but somehow he got the entire troll army to surrender with a spirited monologue and a threat to number eleven on his speed dial.
FAVORITE MOVIE GENRE: Sunday-morning matinee kung-fu theater
BIGGEST FLAW: a little too nice. Jay will take on everything to help out. If asked, he’ll weld or pilot a spacecraft or cook dinner for the mutant overlords. He will do it all. Then he’ll pass out for three or four days and be no use to anyone. -
Blue
Blue is in charge of construction at THE Agency. He’s precise and calculating and gets things done. He’s the silent version of Jay – with less hair, of course. He does come with his own nemesis - Red. Best not to mention him here, it makes Blue grouchy.
FAVORITE WORD: flush - smooth, perfect, the sign of good craftsmanship. It’s also not a bad thing with money and poker - not that he ever gambles.
FAVORITE PROJECT: The Aviary of Doom was an engineering marvel, so much glass, with so many death traps hidden amongst the perfectly humidified gardens. That one had a killer deadline too - made it with seconds to spare. Flush indeed.
FAVORITE MOVIE GENRE: film noir
BIGGEST FLAW: not a morning person. Blue doesn’t speak before noon and seldom after. He’ll be on site through the wee hours measuring, sanding and perfecting every detail without flinching, but Monday-morning meetings get little more than a few monosyllabic grunts and grumpy nod. -

Paige’s new job of catering to super-villains only gets harder once she meets the rest of THE crew. Between mad scientists and crazed ex-NASA engineers, she is surrounded by chaos on all sides. Of course, perhaps it’s safer to be traveling with the spinning storm of crazy rather than be in its path.
